Northwave Corsair all-road shoe review

Northwave Corsair

The Northwave Corsair has plenty going for it: the natural rubber sole has an excellent tread pattern and the cleat plate is super-stiff, but the rest of the sole has plenty of give making them easy to walk in.

The dial closure is a Boa and it’s well placed, while also offering plenty of micro-adjustment.

The downside of the shoe is the shape. The instep comes up high, which offers protection from clattering the cranks but at the expense of rubbing my ankle. It did ease off as the upper softened but remained a constant niggle.

The forefoot volume is generous and my size 45s moved also around, creating friction on the little toe.

As a commuter shoe the Corsair is a fair choice, but when riding hard there are better options.
