Get The Natural Makeup Look: Lina Mourey Shows Us How

We all know it (and want it), that ‘I’ve just got out of bed and look like this’ type of vibe. And aren’t we are lucky things as makeup artist Lina Mourey shows us, step-by-step how to create this natural makeup look at home.

To create a ‘natural’ look it takes a lot more effort than you would think! It’s a lot of skin prep to make sure the base is flawless and fresh, here are my simple rules to follow.

Step 1: Gentle exfoliation

To startI always use Dr Dennis Gross Extra Strength Daily Peel – to gently remove any texture and to start with a smooth surface, it really helps the makeup to go on smoothly.

Step 2: Tone

After that I take Bioderma Micelle Solution and a cotton pad and wipe off any residue including the décolletage.

Step 3: Prepping the under eye

Once that has dried I use Milk Makeup Cooling Water Stick under the eye area and press the product in with my fingers. Next, I gently apply the La Mer Eye Balm under the eye using the Sigma Eye Cream Brush, which makes it easy to focus the product directly under the eye.

Step 4: Hydrating the skin and lips

I take La Mer Hydrating Lotion and press it into the skin using my hands.

Next I use Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream and apply it with my fingers to gently massage the product into the skin in an upward motion.

Lastly, using my favorite Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask I apply this so that by the time we are ready to do lips they are perfectly hydrated.

Step 5: Glow

And then I lightly add Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow on the cheeks, more so on the high planes of the face. Apply with a foundation brush as this makes such a difference – it will add that extra radiance to the skin.

Step 6: Let it sit

Allow the products to basically dry on the skin before going into apply the foundation.

Step 7: Foundation

Next up, I use the Dior Face and Body Foundation and put the product on the back of my hand to warm up the product. Then using a damp beauty blender, I apply directly to the face and working it down the face to make sure we are blending evenly.

This foundation is perfect for a ‘natural’ glam look because it’s totally buildable and allows your skin to shine through without that heavy finish some foundations leave.

Step 8: Contour and blush

Taking the contour side from the Tom Ford’s Shade and Illuminate (shade 1 here), I warm the product on the back of my hand before applying it directly on the skin. Using a Duo Fiber Brush by Sigma I contour the outer areas of the face and along the cheek bones for more definition and to give your face that snatched contoured lift we love! Using my fingers, I take the Glossier Cloud Paint in dusk which is a very soft peach color and gives the cheeks a natural flushed look.

Step 8: Conceal

I like to use the Hourglass Airbrush Concealer for a natural highlight and for a little more coverage in areas you think need it i.e. – blemishes, using a small brush or a damp blender.

Step 9: Setting

Using Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder I take a small fluffy brush and apply it the areas around the nose, under the eyes, forehead, cheeks and chin- apply this in a lightly tapping motion making sure to not over set and to allow the shine to still come through leaving the skin in a very natural but flawless airbrush finish

Step 10: Eyes and brows

Taking the Laura Mercier Candleglow Sheer Perfecting Powder (in shade 4 for this look) I gently brush the cheeks and eye lids for a monochromatic finish.

I like to use Surratt Eyelash Curler and a brown mascara for a natural lash and add individuals depending on the eye shape.

Using a tinted brow gel brush the hairs up for a natural ungroomed – groomed brow.

Step 11: Lips

Wipe off any lip mask left on the lips and go in with a natural lipliner and line the entire lips, I used the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk with Milk Makeup Tinted Kush Balm in canna tonic, which is close to her natural pink lip. I love the Kush Balms because it leaves the lips shiny and hydrated, the way natural lips should look!

Step 12: Setting spray

I love setting sprays! Right now I’m super obsessed with the Morphe Continuous Dew Mist! It’s such a fine mist and leaves the skin looking perfect and fresh!
